Love, love & more love for Ina May

by

There’s no hiding our love for midwife Ina May Gaskin. The woman is a phenom. And she’s coming to the Twin Cities for several events in November, including an open-to-the-public talk on Nov. 15.

Seriously – I’m more excited than a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa to show up.

Ina May Gaskin

If you’re not familiar with Ina May, she is the famous midwife who founded The Farm, an inspiration to birthing women worldwide, and an advocate for normal birth. She is the author of several books: Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth, Ina May’s Guide to Breastfeeding, and Spiritual Midwifery.

Her latest book, Birth Matters: A Midwife’s Manifesta, has been called “a spirited manifesta that demonstrates why birth matters to us ALL, and how to trust women, value birth, and reconcile modern life with a process as old as our species.”

Some of her weekend-long events are for birth professionals only, but her talk on Nov. 15 at the University of Minnesota is open to the public, and tickets are only $10!! Tickets will sell quickly, so pick up yours now.

There’s also a more intimate fundraising dinner for Mama Latte, a local, non-profit breast milk collection site for donated human milk.

And to get you in the mood for Ina May’s big appearance, be sure to come to Blooma this Sunday, 7-8:30 p.m. for Blooma’s book club. Sarah Longacre will be leading the discussion all about Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth! The event is free, but we’d love it if you registered online in advance.

Love,

Alisa, Sarah & the women of Blooma
